PCD Tools
Cutting tools built for long tool life and precision.
PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) is a cutting material made of sintered synthetic diamond particles, bonded under high pressure and temperature. This gives it exceptional hardness and wear resistance — ideal for machining abrasive materials and production runs that demand consistent part quality.
KOM Karnchang manufactures PCD tools tailored to your application and machine setup.
**Key Advantages of PCD**
*Wear Resistance* — Strong resistance to wear, ideal for materials that dull cutting edges quickly
*Long Tool Life* — Extends tool life when matched with the right material and cutting conditions
*Consistent Cutting Performance* — Maintains cutting edge and part quality across continuous production
*High Precision & Surface Quality* — Suited to applications demanding tight tolerances and fine surface finish
**What Materials Can PCD Cut?**
Wood & Engineered Wood: Solid wood, MDF/HDF, Particle Board, Laminated Board, and other engineered wood panels
Non-Ferrous Metals: Aluminium, Aluminium Alloy, High-Silicon Aluminium, Copper, Brass
Plastics & Composites: Acrylic, Plastic, Fiberglass/GFRP, Carbon Fiber/CFRP, Graphite, select composite materials
Cement Board and PCB (Printed Circuit Board)
**PCD Tool Formats**
- PCD Circular Saw Blades — for panel and abrasive material cutting
- PCD Router Bits — for milling and profiling
- PCD Drilling Bits — for drilling PCD-suitable materials
- PCD Profile Cutter Heads — for custom profile shaping
- Custom PCD tools — built to your size, shape, and application

**When Is PCD the Right Choice?**
PCD is ideal when tool-change frequency, edge life, and part consistency are critical — especially for continuous production, abrasive materials, applications needing long tool life, consistent surface quality, and reduced downtime from tool changes.
That said, PCD isn't the answer for every material. It's generally suited to non-ferrous and non-metallic materials, and not recommended for cutting standard steel due to a carbon-iron reaction at cutting temperatures.
**Custom PCD Tools**
Every job differs in material, machine, and production conditions. KOM Karnchang manufactures PCD tools to your specification — helpful details for custom design include workpiece material, cutting method, machine type, spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and machine rigidity.
